How long have you been practicing?
I have been practicing about 5 years, but more consistently in the last 2 years.
What keeps you returning to your mat?
I love the afterglow of the practice. No matter how I feel going into practice, or how well I get into the poses, I always leave feeling better both mentally and physically.
Currently my favorite pose is low lunge. I used to hate it, so I practiced it all the time and now I love it!
Favorite gentle/calming music?
Garth Stevenson and Kevin Macleod have some nice ambient space-type instrumentals
Favorite cardio music?
Best savasana relaxation tip?
I sometimes like to place my hands over my ribcage and just feel my breath rising and falling. It has a very calming effect and gives me something to focus on.
Favorite essential oil to use in class AND/OR personally?
My favorites so far are Bergamot and Spanish Lavender, it’s hard to step away from them because I love them so much!
Any advice for beginners?
Try not to come in with expectations. Every practice will be different, just allow whatever happens to unfold and have fun. You will learn more about yourself and your awareness will grow with more practice. Our mind tends to want to overcomplicate things, just keep it simple and focus on your breathing and trust what feels best for you.
Get comfortable being uncomfortable.
If you could eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Pasta (Italian or asian noodles..)
